Winter Activities

Mild winter temperatures coupled with generous annual snowfall make Fairmont Hot Springs and the rest of the Columbia Valley an irresistible wonderland for anyone eager to turn their winter blues into winter yahoos!

The Valley’s vast wilderness beckons Nordic skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers, while the frozen surfaces of some of the Columbia Valley’s lakes are perfect for skating, ice boating and ice fishing.

The Valley enjoys immense popularity among skiers and snowboarders. The family-friendly runs of Fairmont Hot Springs Ski Resort are ideal for beginners and for seasoned down-hillers eager to fine-tune their skills. Four other world-class ski resorts – Fernie, Panorama Mountain Village Resort, Kimberley Ski Resort and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort – reside within a 30 to 90 minute drive of Fairmont Hot Springs.

To enlarge the family appeal and the richness of its ski hill experience, Fairmont Hot Springs has plans to expand its programs into a ‘winter recreation area’ concept with a tubing/tobogganing hill, magic carpet lift at the ski hill, outdoor hockey and pleasure skating rinks, and a network of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
